Rip! A Remix Manifesto is a film based on the copyright issues in the United States and the world. The author is trying to vocalize the unfairness of being unable to use another persons work to create something new and original. I believe this argument is valid because Walt Disney used the ideas of the past to create his work and progress his company while he was alive. Now the company sues anyone who tries to do the same with the ideas of Walt Disney. This film is presented in a bias opinion against copyright.
The filmmaker shows bias by using appeal to authority and an anecdote to present his argument. He uses appeal to authority by having Cory Doctorow speak on his behalf. Cory is bias against copyright and wants artists to be free to use others work for creative purposes and progression. He is an author of multiple books and a professional blogger. The filmmaker uses anecdote to explain the story of Girl Talk whom is a mash-up artist that uses other artists beats and music to create his own, different sound. It presents bias in the story by calculating exactly how much money he would need to pay companies, labels and artists around 200,000 to produce one song.
I believe that it should be fair to use others work for creative and progressive purposes as Walt Disney once did without paying large sums of money. How else would we progress music and science and even cancer research? If there were less harsher copyright and patent laws. Rip! A Remix Manifesto presents a formal issue that many people are unaware of when they watch movies or television.
